What Transcend is here to do
At its best, leadership helps other people flourish. It creates the conditions for people, organisations and communities to become more capable — not more dependent.
That is the idea behind Transcend.
The approach
“Growth matters most when it stops being only about us.”
The name Transcend draws on Abraham Maslow’s later thinking about self-transcendence: the possibility that human development can move beyond self-actualisation towards service, contribution and helping others to grow.
Transcend takes that idea seriously, without making it grandiose. The work is practical: helping people become more thoughtful, more capable and more able to make a useful difference in the systems they are part of.
There is no promise of a ten-step formula for leadership. Complex human systems rarely work like that. There is, however, a commitment to pay attention, tell the truth as well as we can, and do work that is genuinely helpful.
